Friction roller drive
The ONwheel is a friction roller drive that acts directly on the rear wheel. Through this technology the ONwheel is Plug & Play capable. The motor can be removed from the bicycle and reattached in seconds. This is particularly practical when cycling tours are planned with or without a motor. When not in use, the friction roller of the ONwheel is flipped away from the wheel and thus releases the rear wheel. This means that the rolling resistance is low even without motor support, which is why the bike can easily reach well over 25 km/h.
All parts of the ONwheel motor are CNC milled from a high-quality aluminium alloy and anodized. The screws are made of stainless steel and all cables and electronics are sealed. This ensures that the ONwheel motor is completely waterproof, which makes it extremely robust.
The ONwheel is supplied in a set with a modern lithium-ion battery. This is characterised by its high energy density and is not subject to the memory effect. The battery life is approx. 1,000 charging cycles. The battery can be easily inserted into the battery holder, where a lock secures it and the contacts close. The battery can be charged directly at the wheel or also free-standing.
The mounting plate is the link between the bicycle and the ONwheel motor. It can be fixed to the bicycle with only one screw. The plate is bolted to the mounting plate instead of the bicycle stand. If the bicycle does not have a bicycle stand plate, the mounting plate can be attached to the cross tube of the bicycle using the optional mounting kit.
The mounting plate contains the PAS-Sensor and Speed sensor, the battery cable, the cable with the Power Buttons and the Plug & Play contact rail, which connects the mounting plate to the motor. The mounting plate also has an integrated sled system which allows the contact pressure of the lifted motor on the rear tyre to be adjusted.
The Power Buttons, which are installed on the handlebars, can be used to select the predefined power levels 1 – 4. In power stage 0 the motor is on standby. The power levels can be individually adjusted via the app. On the bottom side of the Power Buttons an USB socket is integrated. This can be used, for example, to charge a smartphone.
